Cannabidiol (or, CBD) is one of a group of cannabis-generated compounds, called cannabinoids. Other cannabinoids include CBN (cannabinol), CBC (cannabichromene), CBG (cannabigerol), and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). In all, there are over 100 cannabinoids that can be found in cannabis. Your body, it turns out, produces its own endocannabinoids. These are part of a cell-signaling system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The endocannabinoid system interacts with multiple organs and systems in the body, helping them to maintain homeostasis (balance). This process helps the body to regulate a number of vital functions.

CBD & the Endocannabinoid System

CBD and other cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system in much the same way as the body’s own endocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids (plant-based cannabinoids) also signal to receptors in various systems and other organs, helping the body to maintain homeostasis.** The result of this interaction is a number of wellness benefits, and it’s the reason why CBD has become such a popular health supplement.**

Types of CBD Products

There are many CBD products to choose from, whether you prefer to take CBD regularly or just on occasion.

CBD vape oils offer the fastest effects of any CBD product, because the CBD is absorbed through the lining of the lungs (which can happen in minutes, or even seconds). CBD edibles, such as CBD capsules and pills and CBD gummies, take the longest period of time to feel the effects (30 minutes to two hours), due to the fact that the CBD has to pass through the digestive system to be absorbed into the bloodstream. On the plus side, edible CBD supplements have the longest-lasting effects of any CBD products (six to eight hours, depending on personal bioavailability factors). Sublingual CBD oil tinctures, such as our CBD + CBG 2:1 Wellness Tinctures, fall somewhere in the middle, with quicker-hitting effects than CBD edibles, and longer-lasting effects than CBD vapes. Lastly, CBD topicals, such as CBD balms, masks, and creams, allow the CBD to absorb through the layers of skin and go directly to the affected area of the body.

CBD for Wellness

Whatever product you choose, make sure to avoid CBD products from cheaper manufacturers, which can potentially contain contaminants, such as pesticides and GMOs, and sometimes don’t even contain real CBD. Always shop with a reputable CBD brand, like CBDfx. We only use CBD oil culled from organic hemp, and that oil is extracted by means of clean carbon dioxide, so you never have to worry about potentially harmful solvent residues. All of our CBD products come with a Certificate of Analysis (a third-party lab report) to verify both the purity and the potency of the product.
